CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (also known as CSI: Las Vegas) is an American crime drama television series, which premiered on CBS on October 6, 2000. The series was created by Anthony E. Zuiker and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The show is filmed at Universal Studios in Universal City, California.
The series follows Las Vegas forensics experts criminalists as they use physical evidence to solve gruesome murders in this graphic drama An immediate ratings smash for CBS, the series mixes deduction, gritty subject matter and popular characters in its winning formula. The network quickly capitalized on its hit with spin-offs CSI Miami and CSI: NY.
CSI: Miami (Crime Scene Investigation: Miami) is a U.S. police procedural T.V. series, which begain airing on September 23, 2002 on CBS. The show is a spin-off of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
The series follows a Miami forensics team led by Horatio Caine. Against a backdrop of simmering ethnic and cultural tensions, Caine’s team probes cases similar to those of their Las Vegas counterparts.
The pilot episode was first aired in the U.S. on 5/9/2002 as an episode of CSI and seven seasons have been aired in the United States. The 7th season is currently being shown in England and Ireland. The series is produced in partnership with the Canadian media company Alliance Atlantis and CBS Television Studios.
On May 19, 2009, CBS renewed CSI Miami for an eighth season, which premiered in the United States on September 21, 2009 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
